Your Council Tax, together with Government grants, pays for the services you receive.

The Council Tax levy for 2008-09 is £103.79 for a Band D property. In addition some parts of the district will pay a special expenses levy which is £1.39 on average for a Band D property. It covers work in specific areas such as grass cutting.

Council Tax Cover

We consistently receive maximum Government ratings but we also keep our Council Tax share lower than any of our neighbours. For 2009-10, our share of your bill will increase by 2.94 per cent. That’s a £28.95 increase for a Band D property, rising from £984.77 to £1,013.72.
