Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures
We no longer act as an umbrella body for the Criminal
Records Bureau. The Criminal Records Bureau website
offers a search facility so that you can find a different umbrella
body in the local area.
The new "ISA" scheme that was to come into force on 26th June
2010 has been postponed by the Government, pending a review
of the way that checks are made on people working with
children and vulnerable adults. A useful guide to the
"vetting and barring scheme" can be read here.
There are strict guidelines about what jobs may require a CRB
disclosure check. There are two levels of check currently
available in England - Standard and Enhanced. Basic checks
(which do not include information about spent convictions) are
available for specific purposes (such as for Personal Licence
applicants) from CRB Scotland. The list below provided by the
Bureau shows which jobs are entitled to which level of check.

However these lists are not exhaustive and the Criminal Records

qualifies. They can be contacted on 0870 9090811 or by visiting the
Criminal Records Bureau website.
Please be aware that since 1st October 2009, standard
CRB checks have not been available to people who are to be
employed in a job that involves working with children or the
vulnerable.
