CCTV in Wychavon
The Wychavon Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system is owned
and operated by the District Council and was launched in February
1999. The bulk of the funding for the scheme was provided by the
District Council together with a grant from the Home Office.
By installing CCTV we are not only helping to provide a safer
environment for our own residents but also for all people who use
any of our towns for shopping, to work or to visit.
The main users of the system are the West Mercia Police and we
work closely with them to ensure that we are providing evidential
material of the best quality. We also hold meetings with their
liaison officers thus enabling us to regularly monitor and assess
the performance of the system.
Our other major partner is the Legion Group and they provide the
staff for monitoring the CCTV system.
We also actively support the work of the Council's Community
Safety strategy. For further information see Community Safety in Wychavon.
Objectives
