Ongoing Contaminated Land Work in Wychavon
Inspection of the District
Our Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy details
the proactive work we are set to undertake. It involves a lot of
investigative work and we will have to collate a great deal of
information on a variety of sites. We will assess this information
for potential risk and will take action where necessary. The
priorities, time-scales and methods of assessment are detailed in
the Strategy.
Considerable work has already been undertaken to collate the
information available on historic Industrial landuse and pollution
incidents and activities of concern. The information found is
currently being used to prioritise those sites where contamination
is most likely to be an unacceptable risk.
Work has already commenced to look in greater detail at the
sites of greatest concern to clarify whether contamination is a
problem. This work is ongoing.
In addition to the above, the Council is in consultation with
the Environment Agency to establish a consistent and comprehensive
database of landfill sites and details concerning these.
Again, this is work in progress.
Review of Planning Applications
We will review all planning applications and contamination issues will be considered, where
relevant. We frequently liaise with the Planning Department to
ensure all potential issues are addressed effectively. This is an
ongoing process, with advice often being sought from developers and
applicants informally.
Although personal callers are welcomed during office
hours, please make an appointment if you seek technical
advice or information.
