Requests For Environmental Information
We receive and respond to many requests for environmental
information on a variety of topics from many parts of the
community.
The information we hold consists of Public Registers and other
records that we are required by statute to hold and maintain, as
well as many other documents.
Information available to you
Some of the information held by the Council is freely available
and can be found by using the following links.
Other available information
The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 apply to
information that relates to the environment if, and only if, it
relates to any of the following:
- the state of any water or air, fauna or flora, soil or natural
site or land; or
- any activities or measures (including activities giving rise to
noise/other nuisance) which adversely affect anything mentioned in
(i) above or is likely to adversely affect anything above; or
- any activities or administration or other measures (including
Environmental Management) or programs which are designed to protect
anything so mentioned.
The Council may refuse to make information available if the
request is manifestly unreasonable, if it is formulated in too
general a manner, if it is information to which the regulations do
not apply or is deemed to be confidential.
Advice for those concerned about contamination issues raised
when buying or selling a property can be found on our guide for
homeowners, prospective purchasers and
solicitors. (950.71 KB)
Detailed Requests
Many requests made to the Council often involve detailed and
wide-ranging searches of information held by the Environmental
Health Department. In order to ensure the best use of Officer time,
a charge for this information has been applied, based on the
estimated length of time it takes for the information to be
provided above the standard charge of one-hour currently
£36.00.
Payments for Environmental Information may be made online,
securely via our Online Payments
page.
