Market Towns in Wychavon
In Wychavon, we have three towns, Droitwich Spa, Evesham and Pershore.
Each has a Local Strategic Partnership
(LSP), which is an informal partnership made up of the
voluntary, private and public sectors. The LSPs are designed to
include the surrounding rural areas in addition to the towns
themselves. A full detailed boundary
map (156.93 KB) displaying the areas for each LSP is
now available.
One of the reasons why we have three LSPs (all other
Worcestershire Districts have one that covers the whole District)
is that we were fortunate to receive Market Town Initiative (MTI)
Funding for Evesham and Pershore. This meant the creation of two
Market Town Partnerships to deliver regeneration projects using
£500,000 of public funding from the Countryside Agency and
Advantage West Midlands. Evesham’s programme began in 2001,
Pershore’s a year later in 2002.
Droitwich was slightly too large in population terms to be
eligible for MTI funding. However, a partnership was formed on
similar lines to the other two towns, and received £30,000 a year
from Wychavon’s own funds from 2004 which was spent on projects
based on priority areas. Since the completion of the MTI funding in
Pershore and Evesham, they too now receive £30,000 a year to spend
on local priorities.
Each LSP therefore now has the same level of funding from
Wychavon, and the same level support in the form of an LSP manager.

Each partnership produces an action plan against which the
£30,000 Wychavon grant is spent. These action plans can be seen on
the relevant pages for each town, along with additional relevant
information. For more details, please contact the LSP managers.
