Community make an impact
Residents in Droitwich are coming together to
help clear excess reeds in the Showell Pond to help local wildfowl
continue to use the area.
The pond is supported by the Friends of
Showell Pond who recently wrote to local residents to see if they
would be willing to give up a small amount of time to help.
Wychavon is also lending their support by providing a skip for the
excess reeds disposal.
Lynn Stevens, Parks Officer
said “This is a great example of what can be achieved by a
community working together. It’s by no means a new thing though and
we conducted a similar exercise 10 years ago which worked really
well.”
The reed clearing will take place on 29
August.
