Have a cuppa for St John Ambulance and you might save a
life

St John Ambulance in Evesham is bringing first
aid to the forefront this summer by appealing to the public to join
them for a cuppa and get involved with the BIG Tea Cosy at one of
the areas natural beauty spots.
The charity’s fundraising event is taking
place on Saturday 21 August at the idyllic venue of Hampton Ferry,
in the heart of Evesham, and aims to bring the local community
together for a fun filled afternoon that focuses on the importance
of teaching life saving skills to those around us.
The Ferry is located opposite Rafael’s
restaurant in the town centre at the end of Boat Lane and budding
first aiders and spectators can take part in the SJA Bandage
challenge and learn crucial life saving techniques whilst listening
to the sounds of the Evesham Youth Brass Band. Alternatively try
out a range of family games with great prizes on offer and
afternoon refreshments for all. Evesham SJA unit leader, John
Welch, said:
‘We are really excited to be holding this
event at the Ferry and feel that as well as having a fun day out
people will learn crucial skills to take away with them. Knowing
what to do if a friend or loved one is taken ill is so valuable and
can buy those extra moments that can be the difference between life
and death.’

St John Ambulance relies on donations so
they can provide care to those that need it the most. The
organisation has over 2000 members in the West Midlands and treated
3300 spectators at public events in 2009 for a range of ailments -
protecting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
