Droitwich volunteers begin
countdown to 75th anniversary
First aid volunteers in Droitwich Spa are
set to get on the history trail this month as they invite new and
old members to get in touch with them in the run up to their
75th anniversary celebrations.
St John Ambulance was formed in Droitwich
in March 1935 & has been based at the Old Library Centre in
Ombersley Street East for the last seven years where they provide
emergency first aid cover in and around Worcestershire & the
West Midlands. Richard Brown has been the Unit Leader for five
years & was part of an emergency support team in Worcestershire
that provided specialist 4x4 Ambulance support for West Midlands
Ambulance Service during the recent snow fall. The unit has also
seen its fair share of involvement in emergency situations such as
the floods in 2007, Bank Holiday celebrations and the Ambulance
service strikes in 1989.
The Anniversary celebrations will take
place at the Gaudet Luce Golf Club, in Hadzor, on Friday 26 March.
Richard is asking former members of the unit or their relatives to
contact him regarding the evening or simply for stories and photos
that they can use for displays on the night.
For any information on the events the
public can contact Richard Brown on 07801 495664 or by email on
