Live arts on your doorstep
Wychavon District Council is promising a
programme of live arts to savour this coming spring.
As part of the Shindig Rural and Community
Touring Scheme, which is partly subsidised by the Council,
residents from rural villages such as Bretforton,
Ashton-Under-Hill, Elmbridge, Eckington and Cleeve Prior, will be
able to enjoy jazz concerts, classical music, folk music and
theatre.
The Shindig tour, now in its seventh year,
plays to hundreds of Wychavon people in local church and village
halls every year.
Beginning in March 2010, some of the
highlights for Wychavon villages include Louise Parker & the
Craig Milverton Trio (Bretforton & Ashton-Under-Hill), ‘The
Wind in the Willows’ (Bishampton & Eckington), ‘Those
Magnificent Men’ (Elmbridge), and The London Mozart Players String
Trio (Rous Lench, Cleever Prior & Eckington).
Tracy Grubb, Community Development Officer at
Wychavon District Council, said: “The programme arranged for this
year’s Shindig tour will offer something for everyone.”
She added: “Shindig is all about bringing
professional art live to people’s doorsteps and to those rural
communities that don’t often get the chance to experience such
performances. There’s so much going on - people really should
give the Shindig organisers a call so that they don’t miss
out.”
