Loo of the year awards
Wychavon have again come up smelling of roses
at this year’s Loo of the Year Awards. The awards hosted by the
British Toilet Association were held on 2 December at a
presentation in Kenilworth.
Eleven public toilets in Broadway, Evesham,
Pershore and Droitwich were entered with high ratings for all. 7
were awarded the 5 star award (top award) and 4 were rated with the
4 star award. These awards mean Wychavon is 12th in the
National Local Authority league table for toilets. Wychavon also
won a new award for the ‘Market Sector’ which they won in the
category for public toilets in car parks.
Cllr. Emma Stokes, Board member for
the Environment and Contracted Out Services said “Getting
the basics like really good toilets right is essential and
something that we continue to see as important. I’d also like to
thank our contractor Mitie, who manage our public toilets on our
behalf. They do a superb job and we’re very pleased to again be
recognised at these awards. Residents and visitors alike continue
to give us excellent feedback on our facilities and this is just as
satisfying as any award.”
Loo of the Year judges make an unannounced
visit to inspect the toilet entries and judge them on a number of
factors which together make toilets clean, safe and hygienic. The
Awards are open to all public toilets and assess a whole host of
different venues including retail, hospitality, leisure, transport
and local authorities.
