No council tax increase and no cuts to services

Wychavon are on track not to increase council tax next year when they agree their budget in February, with no cuts to key services for residents either.

Cllr. Paul Middlebrough, Leader of Wychavon said “We will keep council tax at the April 2010 charge when we agree the budget next year. We know that many residents are struggling in these tough financial times and we don’t want to put any additional pressure on them. As well as this, we have no further plans cut back our good value services either. Instead we will continue to rely on driving out efficiencies and sticking to our prudent financial management.”

Wychavon are also looking to streamline their priorities to focus more on key areas that communities need their action on. These are a strong economy, environment and community.

Paul continued “Focusing on less areas will help us to drive them forward at an increased pace. Residents want us to prioritise the economy and ensuring the area is prosperous for all. Balancing this with the need to protect and enhance our environment and keep our communities strong is essential.”
