W Factor success

Wychavon’s W Factor has reaped success for
local resident and last years winner Giles Potter who made it
through to the grand final of Open Mic UK, a national competition
to get unsigned acts noticed.
Giles Potter said “I can’t
believe I’ve got this far in the competition I am so pleased. And
even if I don’t win I am just honoured to be performing at the O2
Arena and on my birthday too! It would be so awesome if I won but I
know there will be some tough competition, let’s just wait and see
what the judges decide on the day. I am so excited.”
Jenny Davis, Arts Development Officer
at Wychavon said “The W Factor is a lot of fun, but it can
be a stepping stone to further success, as Giles has proved. If you
think you’ve got a talent get an audition and showcase your ability
– it could make you a star. ”
Back for its fifth year W Factor auditions
have started, but will continue on 11 January from 4.30pm at the
Civic Centre, Pershore. W Factor category winners get the chance to
perform at events in the district, such as Party in the Parks.
If you’re aged 11-18 years and live in
Wychavon then you will be eligible to apply. The categories are
instrumental, singing, dance, drama, alternative, visual art and
short film and there will be a winner from each (final show
categories may vary due to amount of applications received).
