Pets & Warm Weather

The RSPCA is urging pet owners to keep their animals safe in warm weather.

Their top 10 tips to help keep your pet safe in the sun are:

  • Never leave an animal in a car in warm weather
  • Don't let your pet get sunburnt
  • Make sure all pets have access to shade and a constant supply of fresh drinking water
  • Check your pets for fleas, ticks and mites
  • Check animals every day for fly-strike
  • Don't exert dogs in the heat
  • Keep indoor fish tanks out of direct sunlight
  • Don't leave pets home alone when you go away
  • Be wildlife-friendly in the garden
  • Disturb bonfires before burning garden rubbish.
