Honey Bees

 Image of a Bee

Usually small and hairy with brown or black stripes.

Swarms of Honey Bees

They may swarm from any time in April through to July. When in a swarm they can be quite frightening but will be very docile if left alone.

Worcestershire Beekeepers Association members will remove honey bee swarms if they are easily accessible i.e. on bushes or trees. We are not insured to climb ladders onto roofs or chimneys. If high up on trees they will usually go away and not cause a problem.  If they get into chimneys or roofs the only answer is to employ a pest control contractor.

It has been suggested that members should charge a fee of £10 to cover their running-around expenses but this is at their own discretion and may depend upon how far they have travelled.
