W Factor 2012

There was an amazing amount of talent shown by children and young people of Wychavon for this years W factor auditions. From singing, to irish dancing, comedy to musical theatre, it was incredible and the judges had a very hard job deciding on the finalists for this years show which is to be held at Number 8 Community Arts Centre, Pershore on 27th February 2012

The categories for this years show are:

  • Singing (Under 14yrs)
  • Singing (14 - 18yrs)
  • Dance
  • Musicians
  • Alternative
  • Film (all entries to be in by 6th Feb)
  • Photography (all entries to be in by 6th Feb)

Tickets cost £5 each and can be purchased from Number 8 Community Arts Centre or over the phone by calling the Box Office on 01386 555488. Show starts at 7.30pm,

Finalists will get the chance to perform at some of the Wychavon District Council Summer Events.

This was a perfect opportunity for them to gain experience and improve their confidence in front of an audience of which they did magnificently. A big thank you to them and also their parents and the public for supporting them at these events.

The W Factor auditions saw .......young people aged between 11 and 18 years. The final show was whittled down to 17 acts totalling 35 young people from a range of places, Evesham, Pershore, Droitwich Spa, Drakes Broughton, Spetchley, Norton, Hanbury, Cropthorne, Netherton, Sedgeberrow, Badsey, South Littleton and Martin Hussingtree .

There were 6 categories - Dance, Singing 11-13yrs, Singing 14-18yrs, musicians, photography and short film

The final show was on the 14th February at Evesham Arts Centre and it was a great nights entertainment with a 200 strong audience to cheer the acts on and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Once all of the acts had showed off their talent the judges left to make their decision.

The audience also got to see the entries for the best visual arts category which was photography and the short film entry

After the finalists performances the judges went off to decide the winners the audience were treated to extra showcase performances from Honeybourne Youth Club, Westacre Middle School, Laura Dedicoat poet laureate and Hannah Forrester from Wychavons Youth Music Project.

Finally the judges came back to give their decision. Wychavon District Council Chairman Linda Robinson gave out the prizes.

This summer the W Factor finalists have been showcasing their talentsat various venues. The young people and their families really felt that they had developed their performance skills as well as meeting new friends and developing their confidence and self-esteem. This years W Factor finalists and Youth Music students perform their last performance this year at Wychavon’s Chairman’s Party on Saturday 23rd Oct from 6.30pm. The acts that will be performing are Irish dancer Isobel Saunders, two singer/musicians Ellys Lloyd Jones and Anya and jugglers Fred and Joe Papworth. This will be in a marquee next to Chessgrove Spa, Ditchford Bank Rd Hanbury, B60 4HS.

This performance will be the last of a very busy tour for this year’s W Factor finalists. They have had a brilliant summer as they rehearsed and developed their talent and toured around performing at the districts events. They sung, danced and played music at The Balloon Festival, Evesham Arts 4 All, Croome Court Open Day, Party in the Park, Frame Festival and Salt Day.
