Sport Relief Mile

Pershore Abbey Park Mile
Over 280 local people turned out in force on Sunday
25th March at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in
Pershore. Milers of all ages were sponsored to do 1, 3 or 6 miles
around Abbey Park.
The day was a massive success with friends, families and work mates
joining together in friendly rivalry to go the extra mile for Sport
Relief 2012. Lots of people took the opportunity to dress up
in the glorious sunshine with outfits consisting of wetsuit and
flippers, ET and children dressed as their favourite super
hero. After the mass warm up with ‘Prunella the Plum’ the crowds
eagerly lined up to begin their run, hop or walk around the mile
course to the sound of the Pershore Dragon Boat Drum. As well
as the run we also had an Arts Workshop where you could make an
ever popular 'Angry Bird', Sporting Challenge and Pershore Tennis
Club were also on hand to offer taster sessions. Refreshments were
available to purchase from Roly Polys. With all that and the
glorious sunshine it was a great day.
More than one million men, women and children came together to
walk, run or hop 1,3 or 6 miles at the hundreds of Sainsbury’s
Sport Relief events that took place across the length and breadth
of the country over the Sport Relief weekend.
The Sport Relief 2012 total currently stands at £52,070,587 with
more still coming in from Milers getting sponsored and the public
raising money in all sorts of inventive and challenging ways.
Sport Relief would like to
say a huge thank you to each and every person who has donated money
or given their time to go the extra mile.

involved in their local clubs and activities.
Emma Gardner, Sports Activator for Wychavon, said “This is a
great source of funding and is being used to fund some different
projects for those who may not otherwise take part in Physical
Activity.”
The successful clubs and organisations are:

trolley to make it easier to access and move the mats that they
already have.
