Volunteer Centres
Volunteer Centres are local organisations providing support and
expertise within the local community, to potential volunteers,
existing volunteers and organisations that involve volunteers.
Volunteering England is working to secure and support an
England-wide network of quality volunteer development agencies,
promoting and enabling volunteering and community involvement.
There are three volunteer centres in Wychavon:
Pershore Volunteer Centre

Pershore & District Voluntary Help Centre, known as Pershore
Volunteer Centre, was established in August 1984 and became a
registered charity in January 1985.
The Aims of the Centre are essentially to provide a Centre and a
telephone point where anyone wishing to do voluntary work may
register, and anyone needing help or advice may be directed to the
appropriate agency.
In practice, the activities they undertake to achieve these
aims are wide-ranging and include:
• Recruitment and placement of volunteers by providing a
Centre where persons wishing to do voluntary work can register
and people needing help or advice can be assisted or directed to
the appropriate agency
• Co-operation with statutory and voluntary organisations to
identify and address needs in the area
• Linking needs to existing resources where possible, and
establishing new facilities as and when required
• Providing a Community Transport Service including a
Social Car Scheme for those without a vehicle or unable to use
public transport and an accessible Minibus Service for use by the
elderly, disabled and local voluntary and community
organisations
• Providing and/or supporting other appropriate community
servies
• Supporting a Resource Centre, to be used by other voluntary
groups for printing, duplicating, etc.
A copy of their Constitution can be viewed at the Centre’s
office. The adopted policies and business affairs of the Centre are
decided by a management committee (the trustees of the charity)
which meets every other month and comprises volunteers and other
local representatives. Membership of the Committee is open to
anyone wishing to seek election when notification of the Annual
General Meeting is given. All volunteers are encouraged to attend
the AGM.
