Our strategy 2012 - 2016

Our four year strategy sets out the direction for the council up until April 2016.

The strategy contains the three priorities shown below.  These are underpinned by goals, which express the outcomes we’re seeking to achieve that will make life better for people.

  • Strong economy: with goals around attraching more businesses and jobs, improving skills and more housing that meets local needs
  • Strong environment: with goals focused on reducing energy consumption, increasing energy generated from renewable sources, protecting the natural and built environment and reducing waste.
  • Strong communities: with goals covering targeting services and support to people who need them most, providing great value services and supporting active communities.

The strategy contains a set of promises that will help achieve our goals.  Some of these are to be delivered in 2012/13 and others span several years.

We monitor and report our performance against our promises four times a year and include a summary of how we've performed in our Annual Report.
