Data Protection
Wychavon District Council is a Data Controller under the
Data Protection
Act 1998
The Council collects and keeps information about the people who
use its services, its employees and others with whom it deals and
communicates.
This personal information is held for the purposes of fulfilling
the Council’s duties as a public authority and employer.
The Data Protection Act 1998 places obligations on Data
Controllers, which require them to ensure that personal details are
collected, kept and used in accordance with the provisions of the
Act.
All personal information will be treated as confidential and
kept secure by the individual Service Sections of the Council.
It shall be accurate and kept up to date and only used for
the purpose for which it is supplied. Personal data will not be
kept longer than is necessary
In certain circumstances (which will always be notified to
individuals at the time of providing the information), the Council
may check information furnished to it, in order to check its
accuracy, prevent or detect crime or to protect public funds in
other ways, as the law permits. No personal information will
be disclosed to anyone unless the law permits it to do so.
The Council has in place a Procedure to accommodate the Subject
Access Rights conferred by the Act.
The Council’s Data Protection Officer, the Head of Legal and
Support Services, is the individual responsible for the operation
of the Act within the Council and he can be contacted at the
Council with any queries relating to the Data Protection Act. Any
Complaints by individuals under the Data Protection Act should also
be addressed to the Data Protection Officer, in the first
instance.
The Data Protection Officer is also responsible for Notifying
the purposes for which the Council processes personal data to the
Information Commissioner and for
keeping the Council’s Notifications up to date.

£10.00, this being the relevant fee as set by the Legislation.
