Food Waste Bin

This bin is for any food waste including meat, fish and bones. If you don't home compost then vegetable peelings, tea bags and eggshells can go in too.

The food waste caddy can be lined using newspaper or fully compostable/degradable liners (marked with BSEN 13432). These are made of paper or cornstarch and are available from local shops and most supermarkets. You don't have to use them and some people prefer to use nothing at all. Your food waste caddy is dishwasher proof. PLEASE DO NOT LINE IT WITH PLASTIC BAGS.

On green recycling week, your food waste is collected by a different vehicle and goes for composting.

On refuse week your food waste goes to landfill, so you may wish to save it until the following recycling week if you have space in your food waste bin.
