The Government introduced
the New Homes Bonus in
April 2011. The Bonus aims to ensure that the economic
benefits of housing growth are returned to the councils and communities where that
growth takes place. For every new home built and occupied, we will
receive six years of New Homes Bonus grant from the Government.
Our
New Homes Bonus Protocol explains how the
Bonus is calculated and our plans for spending it. We are
allocating up to 40% of the New Homes Bonus for reinvestment in
local communities in Wychavon where the development that has
generated it has taken place.
We expect parish and town councils to submit proposals for
spending the New Homes
Bonus allocations for their area. In exceptional circumstances, we
will consider proposals from community or voluntary organisations
on a case by case basis.
The New Homes Bonus sits alongside the existing planning
system. It is not intended
to encourage housing development that would otherwise be
inappropriate in planning terms.
