Benefits, risks and advantages of leaving an abusive relationship.

If I were to leave what are the ‘benefits’, ‘risks’, ‘advantages’ and what if I do ‘nothing’ (BRAN): -

Benefits

B
  • I no longer live in fear, nor feel like I’m walking on egg shells. I have freedom, ‘a life’ again, happiness, a bed to myself, no more shouting or arguments…..
  • I don’t have to wait until something even worse happens
  • I can have control over me

Risks

R
  • Scared if s/he found me, the risks do escalate when you leave, loss of transport, loss of income and perhaps needing to claim benefits, but this can be managed with specialist support
  • There is a range of services that can offer you free and confidential help. Call us today to talk to someone in confidence or read this website. Remember it is not your fault. No one has the right to make you live in fear.

Advantages

A
  • A new life, back in touch with old friends and a chance to make new friends, freedom….
  • I’ll have more energy if I stop being worn out with stress

Nothing

N
  • If I do nothing, live in fear and at the risk of serious emotional or physical harm. In some case death
  • I’m just kidding myself this isn’t that bad really
