Current and Future Targets

Data and Future Targets

The Accident Studies Team are continually working towards the National Targets of:
  • 40% reduction in the number of ALL people killed or seriously injured (KSI) in road accidents.
  • 50% reduction in the number of CHILDREN killed or seriously injured (KSI) in road accidents.
  • 10% reduction in the slight casualty rate expressed as the number of people slightly injured per 100 million vehicle kilometres.

Children are defined as being those aged under 16.

The results over the ten years are tabulated below:

Accident Data

It should be noted that the 2010 figures are deemed to be artificially lower than normal due to prolonged snow fall during the months of January and December.
