Helping our economy and communities to rebuild is important to our overall recovery plan for the district
In July 2020, we launched Crowdfund: WYCHAVON in partnership with crowdfunding platform Spacehive to support local community projects and their ongoing response to the Covid-19 Crisis.
Crowdfunding offers a way to raise funds rapidly by connecting people with local causes. Anyone can back a campaign with as little as £2 and can do so safely online. We provide funding pots across a number of rounds and the rest is made up with donations from communities, councils, local businesses and foundations.
What is the theme of the current round of funding?
The Crowdfund: WYCHAVON Ticket to Ride Fund aims to support sustainable community transport projects across the district that are citizen-led and community-based.
The aim is to boost connectivity of communities by improving local people’s ability to travel to services and opportunities for social interaction. Also, to increase social mobility, promote independence and self care, as well as to empower communities by creating an environment where people stay healthy for longer.
We have made a pot of £140,000 available over the next three years (across six rounds of funding) to support these initiatives. The maximum amount pledged to a project will be £50,000 or 50 per cent of the total project costs.
The deadline for organisations to pitch their project has now been passed (30 September 2020). The next stage is to start raising money for the projects.
What have we achieved so far?
For the first round of funding, we made a pot of £25,000 available and helped eight projects successfully reach their fundraising targets. We provided £12,217 in total and the projects received donations from 174 backers. The remaining funds of £12,783 will be pledged to other appropriate district campaigns.
