Greenhouse gas emissions report
Each summer we publish the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the way we run our organisation and the services we provide.
In 2013/14, we emitted a total of 4,388.8 tonnes of CO2e from our estate and operations. This is a 2.4% increase compared with our base year (2008/09), and a 15% increase on 2012/13 emissions.
As the chart below shows, in 2013/14, energy consumption at our leisure centres accounted for over half (58%) of our total greenhouse emissions. Gas and electricity consumption in our own buildings accounted for 13% of our total emissions. Contractor mileage accounted for a further 27% of our emissions. Business travel, attributed to staff using their own vehicles, accounted for just 2% of our total emissions. The waste generated at the Civic Centre, and mileage completed with our fleet vehicles both accounted for less than 1% of our emissions.

View our latest greenhouse gas emissions report. This sets out our emissions for 2013/14 back to our base year (2008/09). In previous years, we published our carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM10) emissions in our Annual Report.
We have followed the UK Government's guidance on how to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions. The following greenhouse gases are included in the report: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O). Emissions from all of these gases are expressed as CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions, as recommended by the guidance.
You can find out more about what we are doing on energy efficiency in our Intelligently Green Plan, which sets out our vision for a greener, more energy efficient and self-sufficient Wychavon by 2020.
