Business information roadshow

Wychavon District Council is inviting all businesses in the district to come along to its final business information roadshow, which is taking place at St Andrew’s Town Hotel in Droitwich Spa on Wednesday 14 June.

Running from 12 noon until 2pm, the aim of the roadshow is to help businesses find the information they need on saving money on energy bills, training staff, taking on apprentices and expanding their business.

Sue Owens, Wychavon District Council’s Skills Officer, said:  “This is the last one of these roadshows we’re running and as well as the advice on energy bills, a key part of what we’re doing is providing local businesses with information about all of the changes that have taken place to training, not only for apprentices but also for existing staff.

“There’s lots of information, guidance and funding out there for business to take advantage of, such as free training in certain areas of business and grants for growth and energy efficiency. Some of the help that businesses can get will be dependent on their size and the business sector, but what these roadshows are designed for is to take the hard work out of business owners and managers having to search for all of this information themselves. We are coming to them with the advice they need.”

With changes also taking place to the way training and apprenticeships are funded, Sue will be on hand at the roadshows to explain these changes and to direct business in Wychavon towards funding that will allow them to take on new apprentices.

Sue added: “This is an exciting time for businesses in Wychavon, with access to funds being available for training both new and existing staff. My role is to offer support and guidance to businesses within Wychavon and to help them get the most out of the new funding that has been available to them since April.

“I can provide tailored advice to help them understand how they can benefit from the new funding, as well as information about the grants that are available from us. One of the main barriers to growth for a lot of small businesses is the lack of funding available for training and employing new staff, so I’m here to help them access this funding so that they can reach their business potential.”

The roadshow in Droitwich will take place from 12 noon until 2pm and a light lunch will be provided.
