Exciting times as work starts at Lido tennis courts

An investment worth £60,000 has started today (30 January) in Droitwich’s Lido Park. The work will see an upgrade to tennis courts with £47,000 from Wychavon supported by local fundraising efforts topping up the remaining £13,000.

A local group interested in the tennis courts lobbied Wychavon to support this project. The group were very active, employing a number of successful ideas to raise the money needed.

Lynn Stevens, Senior Parks Officer at Wychavon said “It’s wonderful that we have been able to support this local group with their goal of improving the tennis courts in Lido Park, Droitwich. I’m pleased that this work has started and will see the courts ready for the spring and summer.”

The work to the courts is likely to take around 3 months and will see them ready for public use by June.

Elain Ball, fundraiser for the project said “We’d like to thank everyone who helped with our fundraising. It’s wonderful to see this work getting started and we can’t wait to see the finished courts in action.”
The refurbished tennis facilities will have 3 adult courts and 4 mini junior courts. New boundary fencing is also part of the project to give an overall smart appearance and function.
