Health walk leader training

Wychavon residents are being given the opportunity to attend free training to enable them to become a health walk leaders.

Health walks are free short weekly organised group walks and can be either 30 minutes or an hour. The aim is to encourage people who are inactive moving but they’re open to anyone.

Cllr. Gerry O’Donnell, portfolio holder for community development, culture and sport at Wychavon said “Health walks have been growing in popularity and we need people to lead more walks to keep up with the demand. The next new walk is planned for Westlands, Droitwich.  It’s great to see more people getting out walking every week, socialising and keeping active. Walking is often a good way to start introducing activity into your life. This is important for cardiac health and the prevention of many other conditions.”

Enthusiastic, friendly people are needed and only need to commit a few hours a month alongside attending a training day. The next walk leader training session is on Tuesday 13 February - 9.45am to 3pm at Westlands Community Hall, Droitwich. Everyone will receive follow up support and a training manual and a certificate – booking is essential.
