Wychavon officially handed over the chain of the Chairman’s office to a new councillor at its Annual Council meeting (16 May 2018).
Outgoing Chairman Councillor Liz Eyre, who has had a very successful and interesting year, handed over her chain to incoming Chairman, Councillor Tony Rowley – the well known member for Pershore.
Following the ceremonial chain exchange Councillor Tony Rowley, the incoming Chairman for Wychavon, said: “Many congratulations to Councillor Liz Eyre on such a successful year – it will certainly be a hard act to follow. I’m looking forward to what is likely to be an exciting and challenging year ahead.
“Whilst I have not chosen any specific charities for the ensuing year, I propose to offer help wherever possible to the voluntary sector, particularly those organisations that work with the socially isolated. In the year ahead I intend to represent Wychavon throughout the district by raising the profile of the Council and promoting its initiatives and continued good work.”
The Chairman’s consort for public engagements will be his wife, Debby Rowley.
Councillor Sital Harris was elected Vice Chairman.
