Wychavon is supporting a national campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy to encourage residents to reduce their food waste.
The initiative not only aims to help reduce waste, but also to reduce the cost of households weekly food bills claiming that by signing up households on average could save up to £60 per month.
The scheme invites residents to sign up to a seven day challenge (over 18-24 September) where Keep Britain Tidy will e-mail every day with tips, suggestion and handy hints on how to keep food waste to a minimum.
Sharon Casswell, Client Services Manager for Wychavon said “Reducing food waste is really important, not only for the environment, but for protecting residents pockets by keeping their bills down. Every year thousands of tonnes of food waste goes to landfill that doesn’t need to, so we’d encourage residents to sign up to this week of action to help them get a handle on their food waste.”
