Vote for Wychavon’s parks to become the nation’s favourite

Wychavon residents are being urged to vote for their local Green Flag park to become the nation’s favourite.

Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, the People’s Choice Awards aim to find the country’s top ten parks from a record-breaking 1,970 awarded Green Flag Award status by the charity.

In July, Abbey Park and Workman Gardens in Evesham, Vines Park and Lido Park in Droitwich Spa, and Abbey Park in Pershore all maintained their Green Flag status.

The public will be able to vote for these five parks until 30 September, with the top ten sites being announced on 15 October.

Running for over thirty years, the Green Flag is a sign to visitors that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has the very best facilities.

Councillor Emma Stokes, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Recycling and Street Scene at Wychavon District Council, said: “It is an honour to receive Green Flag status for our five parks and to win the People’s Choice Award would be the icing on the cake. As a council, we and our contractors- Continental Landscapes Limited- work hard throughout the year to maintain the high standards expected by our residents. Please take a few minutes to vote.”

Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager, said: “This year we have had more Green Flag Award winning sites than ever before. The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”

You can find your nearest award-winning parks at www.greenflagaward.org to vote for your favourite, simply find it on the map and click the vote button. Voting closes on 30 September.
