The district of Wychavon has once again made it into the top three in the country for the Halifax Rural Quality of Life survey for 2018.
The district was ranked third on the billing in the survey that measures access to employment, education, as well as social and environmental factors.
Cllr. Linda Robinson, Leader of Wychavon said “This is brilliant news and we couldn’t be happier to get such a prestigious position. We know we have a fantastic district here but it’s nice that we’ve repeated the national recognition.”
Linda continued “We have so much to offer whether it’s our mix of towns, heritage and countryside, our incredible local food, thriving commerce or vibrant village communities. We also have some of the best, quirkiest and quintessentially English events in the country. We like to think we’ve got it all! It’s a lot to be proud of.”
Wychavon scored particularly well on personal wellbeing and life expectancy. Linda added “Wellbeing and promoting quality of life in older age is very important to us which is why last year we launched Wychavon Wellbeing week. This will now be a bi-annual event and will hopefully get bigger as it gains momentum.”
Wychavon Wellbeing week saw organisations across the district taking part in activities which promoted wellbeing, especially good mental health and is set to take place again in October 2019.
Wychavon is also in the process of extending Evesham Leisure Centre due to its popularity and has continued to prioritise investment in leisure facilities for decades as well as running a successful Get Active sports programme.
