Improvements to Corporation and Crown Meadow
Works are planned to Corporation Meadow to upgrade the existing riverside path to make it better for cyclists and those on foot.
The 400 metre path will be upgraded from an uneven stony path to a smoother tarmac surface making it smoother and more accessible to cyclists. The path runs from Abbey Bridge to the fish-fry and the route will remain almost the same.
During the works access will be maintained at either end, so the path won't be closed completely. For the duration of the works, pedestrians will be diverted along the meadow parallel with the path.
The project is being funded by Worcestershire County Council and delivered by Wychavon as part of their strategies to improve the cycling network in the area.
Alongside this the access road to Crown Meadow Car Park is also being improved. After many patch repairs it's now time to completely resurface the road. The work will be phased so that complete closure will only be for a couple of days. These works are being funded by Wychavon. Martyn Cross, Engineering Services Manager for Wychavon said
"These two projects represent investment that will improve facilities in Evesham. We're pleased to be delivering both of them for the area and hope that people will feel the benefits of the improvements. We're starting the work in September to avoid the busy summer holidays and will keep disruption to a minimum."
Both jobs are starting on 9 September, undertaken by Walsh Construction and are likely to take 4-6 weeks.
