Statement: Illegal encampment on Abbey Park, Pershore

Statement (Friday, 16 July)

We understand and share the frustrations and concerns of residents and businesses in Pershore following the recent illegal traveller encampments on Abbey Park and the associated disruption and anti-social behaviour.

We are listening to what you are telling us and we are keen to put something in place to stop this happening again. We are actively looking at our options with support from local district councillors and we will keep you updated on the progress of those discussions and any action we decide to take.

Statement (Tuesday, 13 July)

We are aware of the illegal encampment on Abbey Park in Pershore. A notice was served on those on site asking them to leave by midday on Friday (9 July). As that did not happen a court hearing took place on Monday (12 July) to obtain an order to clear the site. Bailiffs and police have carried out that order and we expect the site to be cleared by 5.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

This is the second time this has happened in recent weeks and we appreciate the disruption this is causing residents and users of the park. We are looking at what options we have to try and prevent a repeat of this situation in the future.
