Have your say on the Council’s Statement of Principles under the Gambling Act 2005
We are seeking views on a draft revised Statement of Principle’s under the Gambling Act 2005.
This important document sets out the principles we will apply when carrying out its functions under the Gambling Act 2005 and has to be reviewed and republished at least every three years.
The draft revised Statement of Principles can be downloaded here. The proposed changes between our existing Statement of Principles and the draft revised Statement of Principles are shown by the use of red text.
The draft revised Statement of Principles includes a new section recognising the links between Public Health and gambling-related harms and how we would like to work together in partnership with the local public health team to try and better understand and address gambling-related harms in the area.
The Statement of Principles has also been updated to and now contains more detailed information on how we will carry out the following functions it is responsible for under the act:
- The regulation of gambling activities in clubs and alcohol licensed premises
- The issuing and monitoring of Unlicensed Family Entertainment Centre Permits
- The issuing and monitoring of Prize Gaming Permits
- The registration and monitoring of Small Society Lotteries
We are inviting comments on the draft revised Statement of Principles from all interested parties including residents and those running businesses in the district.

The consultation will remain open for comments until 27 July 2018 and all comments received will be considered by us before the publication of a new Statement of Principles before the end of 2018.
