Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA)
Call for Sites Consultation
The South Worcestershire Councils (SWC) i.e Malvern Hills, Worcester and Wychavon started a Review of the SWDP in late 2017. This is in line with new Government requirements that Local Plans should be updated every five years, and therefore a revised SWDP is required by 2021. The Review will provide an updated Plan Period to the year 2041.
Potential sites for housing and employment development – Call for Sites Consultation, Monday 21 May to 5pm Monday 2 July 2018
As part of the SWDP Review the SWC are undertaking a “Call for Sites”, inviting landowners or their agents/developers to submit land for potential future housing and employment development. Subsequently the SWC will publish a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA – previously only land available for housing was requested hence referred to as a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment). This will provide the SWC with evidence which will inform the spatial development option which will then be set out in the Preferred Option that will be consulted upon in November 2019.
If you wish to submit information relating to land for housing and employment development, please fill in the site suggestion form here. Forms should be returned by no later than 5pm on Monday 2 July 2018.
SHELAA Methodology Consultation
The SWC are also updating the SHELAA methodology that explains how land/sites submitted will be assessed for their development potential. This is in line with changes in national planning policy that now require Councils to assess housing and employment sites under the same process. If you wish to make comments on the methodology, please read the SHELAA methodology report here, and complete the response form. Forms should be returned by no later than 5.00pm on Monday July 2nd 2018.
