Residents are being invited to have their say on proposals that will help shape future development in Droitwich Spa.
A six-week public consultation has been launched on the Droitwich Spa Neighbourhood Plan, which has been prepared by Droitwich Spa Town Council with support from Wychavon’s planning team.
Neighbourhood Plans allow communities to influence where development should go, what it should look like and which local issues matter most to residents. Once adopted, they become part of the wider development plan used to help determine planning applications in the area. They can also help planners secure developer contributions to support the creation of new community facilities.

The draft plan includes several key aims including ensuring new development supports town centre regeneration, particularly on the key sites of Union Lane and Netherwich Canal Basin. New housing must be well designed, energy and resource-efficient and reflect the town’s character and heritage. The natural environment should be protected and enhanced, while development should be adaptable to the impacts of climate change. A mix of employment uses such as new start-ups, home working, manufacturing and tourism should be supported while policies in the Plan also call for new and expanded community facilities, particularly around health care. Crucially the Plan also demands infrastructure to support new development should go in alongside or ahead of new housing.
The consultation runs until 11.59pm on 20 July 2026.

Comments received during the consultation will be considered before the Plan is independently examined by planning specialists. If the Plan passes that stage, the public will be asked whether to approve it or not in a referendum.
Wychavon is committed to supporting all towns and parishes to develop Neighbourhood Plans. The council has introduced its own funding scheme to help town and parish councils prepare neighbourhood plans and reviews, following the withdrawal of government funding last year.
